After successfully completing a rehabilitation program for war veterans, Greg Henkel, a Vietnam vet and artist, was granted money to start a small business. He wanted to follow his passion for art as well as provide for his 'ohana. He invested in sandblasting equipment and began creating.
His first creation was smooth ili ili, river stones
After successfully completing a rehabilitation program for war veterans, Greg Henkel, a Vietnam vet and artist, was granted money to start a small business. He wanted to follow his passion for art as well as provide for his 'ohana. He invested in sandblasting equipment and began creating.
His first creation was smooth ili ili, river stones, that had tribal faces carved into them. That is how the business name Stoneface originated.
Today the business has a wide range of products, and is operated by Greg's daughter Erin and son-in-law Chris.
